A little bit of happiness on this rainy day

Hey y'all!

I don't know about you, but rainy days make me sleepy and feeling very blah sometimes. I just don't have time for that dreariness to take over my day (and I'm sure y'all don't either!). So, I grabbed my oils put on some En-R-Gee, Lemon and a drop of Joy. If I didn't know it was raining, I would think that it's a sunny, perfect day outside! One of my coworkers basically told me I was kind of hyper too (which I am rarely "hyper" at work). I'm having an insanely energetic and productive day and thought I might share a little bit of the love with y'all!

I'm giving away a 5ml bottle of Joy (a $17 value!) to bring a little happiness to one of your days! Leave a comment telling me something that makes you happy and brings joy to your life and you will be entered to win! I will draw a winner tomorrow morning. I can't wait to read your comments!

Until next time,

Just Keep Swimming

Hey y'all!

Some days it's seems like I'm drowning in the amount of things I need to accomplish (this is one of those weeks!), so I just have to remember this:

(And then I proceed to sing the song in my head for weeks on end)

Hope you're having a swimmingly great week!

20. Be a Member of a Studio Audience

Hey y'all!

I haven't posted an update on my 30 by 30 List in a while, even though I've crossed off a few items, so it's time to post about one of them! I've ALWAYS wanted to be a member of a studio audience. Growing up we got to watch "The Price is Right" and I just loved the excitement of the audience! Seriously, when asked in an interview if I could be one TV personality, I said Bob Barker. You see the energetic audience in shows like "The Voice" and "American Idol" and it seems like it's contagious! I just knew I wanted to see what the excitement was like in person.

While in California for a business trip, our team stayed the weekend. Most shows only tape on week days, but we found out that "Rising Star" was recording LIVE only 40 minutes from where we were staying! At first, I honestly had no idea what Rising Star was, but quickly found out it was because it was brand new! The taping we would be going to would be their fourth episode.

We reserved tickets, but were told that it didn't guarantee us an "in." About 20 minutes before we were told to be there, we were in line. Slowly, they started letting people into the studio. Almost two hours later, we were STILL waiting! We were told the only seats left were VIP and they wouldn't know until 15 minutes before the show if there would be any more seats at all. If you know me, you know I got all antsy about it! We were SO close, but so, so far.

Then, they started taking more people in, and they stopped right in front of us. REALLY?! About three minutes later, we got really lucky and were taken in! It was worth the wait and extra anxiety because we got AWESOME seats. I was literally less than ten feet from Ludacris, another five feet from Kesha and another five feet from Brad Paisley and Josh Groban kept walking around (he's the host). You should know that I am mildly (okay, Ryan would probably say MORE than mildly) obsessed with The Fast & The Furious movies and I listened to a lot of Ludacris in high school, so this was a big deal. I could have taken like three steps to where he was at. And Brad Paisley?! Um hello, I'm obsessed with country music and Brad is one of the big names out there these days.

Let me explain the show really fast - This is a singing show where the public votes on who goes forward. Sounds familiar right? (Hello, American Idol and The Voice), but here's where it's different. It's LIVE! And really, the "judges" aren't really judges. They're actually experts who give their opinions and their vote carries a little bit more weight than yours or mine, but they don't really have a final say at all. There's a lot going on with how it works, so I'll point you HERE to learn more if you're interested.

Anyway, I loved it. You do feel like you have to be smiling ALL the time in case the camera lands on you. The celebrities were a lot of fun and interacted with the crowd during breaks and the vibe of the room was definitely energetic. Unfortunately, no phones were allowed inside at all so we had to leave them in our car, so the only picture you get is the official logo.

I still want to go to a filming of The Price is Right one day, but had so much fun at Rising Star! If you could be in a studio audience, what show would you want to be on?

Until next time,

Our First Week with Essential Oils

Hey y'all!

So I have to admit that when I heard about essential oils, I was a tad suspicious. How can these little bottles help with so many things?! I am COMPLETELY glad that I decided to take the jump to try them out. We got our kit last Saturday, so a week and a day ago. And within the first couple of days I saw a couple of amazing things (I talked about them in my blog post HERE). But now we are a week out, and the results are literally dumbfounding. I thought I would share what the Bradley's have thought in our first week about Young Living Essential Oils!

  • Headaches - The seasons are beginning to change, which means I have had a TON of headaches. One drop of peppermint on my thumb pressed to the roof of my mouth and/or a drop rubbed on my temples got rid of those suckers fast! No joke, a headache that could have ruined my day, ended up gone within 15 minutes. That has NEVER EVER happened.

  • Allergies - As I said above, the seasons are changing, which means I really need allergy meds every single day. Ugh! I tried the allergy trio of three drops of each peppermint, lemon and lavender behind my ears and on the back of my neck and a deep breath of the remaining oil on my hands and almost instantly felt better. It lasted most of the day too. I had to reapply this evening, but I was out and about running errands so I was exposed to a lot of different stuff during the day. I can't wait to make a roller of this!

  •  Scars and cuts - We have a twelve week old puppy, who happens to have insanely log toe nails (don't worry, they're getting trimmed tomorrow). Cash and I play a LOT, so needless to say, I look like I have had a fight with a rose bush! I'm one of those people that when I have a cut, it's going to take AGES to heal. I've been rubbing frankincense on them twice a day, and the redness is gone on most of them and they are healing way faster than normal (and not leaving scars behind!).
  • Bedtime - Ryan has trouble sleeping, and I often get up throughout the night. We have been diffusing the "sleepy trio" by our bed, and we both have been sleeping until Cash wakes us up in the morning. Valor, lavender, and peace & calming help us sleep through the night! I can't wait to make this in a cream form!
  • Cash the Puppy! - I'm not going to leave too many details here because I have a post coming up on The Happy Oils Blog in the next couple of weeks and I don't want to ruin that! But until then, let's just say that the oils have definitely kept this puppy mom from going nutso!
  • Stress - The stress away roller works. Period. I honestly don't know how else to explain it. I go from a 9 on the stress scale (1 to 10) to a 2 pretty quickly.

  • Pain - Ryan hurt his back last weekend. Big time BOO over here. I mixed up a pain cream of panaway, lavender, and peppermint, and he says it helped. I will share the recipe for the very soon!
  • My happy oils - My favorite thing to diffuse right now is lemon, joy and purification. It makes my house smell so clean and happy! (Yes, happy does have a smell). It really is uplifting and energizing! I know technically this is not the answer to a problem, but I just had to share!

That's EIGHT different ways that we have used oils in the last WEEK! I have literally used every single oil except for thieves out of my starter kit! Do any of you have any "problems" that you wonder if you oils could help you with? Leave me a comment or shoot me a message, I'd love to help ya out!
Hope y'all have an awesome week!

A blue dryer or headache will not ruin my day!

Hey y'all!

I hope you had a great Labor Day Weekend! We just got home from our first road trip with Cash to Arkansas and he did great!  He might have slept in bed with mom and dad though...I could get used to those puppy cuddles! He may not want to go to sleep tonight in his crate. (I think the larger concern is mom not wanting to go to sleep without her warm, snugly puppy) Oops?

So Saturday late afternoon, I somehow missed a blue ink pen in one of Ryan's shirts prior to starting a load of laundry, so multiple items of clothing were ruined (and of course they weren't just inexpensive t-shirts) and my dryer now appears to be tie dyed blue and white. Um, no offense to anyone who wants one, but I don't really want a smurf themed dryer. In addition to that, I was super stressed out because Cash's crate, Ryan's golf clubs and all of our stuff were just not fitting in my car (please note, I CAN FIT IN CASH'S CRATE with the puppy, and his blankets, and all of his toys, and maybe a pillow for me too, so this thing is in no way small).

The doorbell rings 30 minutes before we are supposed to leave and I think, "who the heck is that? I don't have time for this, I have a BLUE DRYER!". So glad I opened the door! It was the delivery man with my Young Living Starter Kit!!!! AHHHH!!!!

Immediately I ripped that box open and rolled on some stress away on. First, I love that smell. I can't really explain it, but I love it. Literally within five minutes, my panic was much, much calmer. No joke. I am really good at thinking that things that aren't big deals are HUGE deals, and the lovely smell made me mentally remember that both of these issues could be resolved without freaking out. I'm pretty sure that Ryan appreciated my much calmer demeanor as we hopped in the car for a leisurely 3 hours. :)

Sunday morning, I woke up with a headache. Ugh, never the best way to start a day (unfortunately this happens pretty often for me). I drank a huge glass of water thinking that must be the issue. Sadly, it was not. I started to reach for my trustee Aleve and remembered, AHA!, I brought my oils with me! So I grabbed the peppermint bottle and put a drop on my thumb and pressed it on the roof of my mouth. No joke, a headache that could have ruined my day, ended up gone within 15 minutes. That has NEVER EVER happened. Normally I have to deal with it for AT LEAST a couple of hours and even then, I'm having to take additional aleve throughout the day.

This stuff saved me two ways in two days. I can't wait to see what I can come up with to use this for next! On another note, Cash is getting way too big, way too fast! I mean, look at this guy! He's like 25 pounds now.

He got playtime with my dad and Ryan's parents this weekend, so he is currently passed out from all of the extra lovin' that he received!
